We Saw Morgan Wallen And The Next Day I Lost My Job
We saw Morgan Wallen. The next day, everything fell apart.
Hello!
The past week has been a whirlwind of unexpected events. On April 4th, my wife Laura and I took a break from our routines to attend Morgan Wallen's electrifying kickoff for his One Night At A Time world tour in Indianapolis. I'll get into that experience shortly.
Then, on April 5th, my day took an unforeseen turn when I received a message from a colleague informing me that HR had unexpectedly joined our daily meeting. Unfortunately, due to funding shortfalls, myself and two others were among those let go. It was a staggering blow, effectively halving our dedicated team.
Amidst the chaos, there were unexpected moments of levity. We were invited to attend Wheeler Walker Jr.'s performance in Grand Rapids, providing a much-needed reprieve. Despite the circumstances, we found solace in laughter as roasted me during the pre-show VIP event. Check it out.
In the midst of uncertainty, my wife shared her unwavering belief in the potential of Country Minute, urging me to consider pursuing it full-time. Trusting her wisdom, I've made the decision to wholeheartedly commit to transforming "the dream" of Country Minute into a reality greater than the sum of its parts.
What we’ll talk about today:
My review of the One Night At A Time Tour (duh).

This whole update is going to be a little weird because I’m in a weird place myself. Don’t fret. Things will return to normal (or a new normal) soon. Thank you for your support.
One Morgan Wallen Concert At A Time
Morgan Wallen stands atop his domain with an aura of accomplishment akin to Caesar surveying his empire. His legacy is firmly cemented with chart-topping albums, a plethora of hit singles, and sold-out tours that leave fans clamoring for more. Despite the inevitable presence of naysayers, Wallen's success speaks volumes, echoing the sentiment of Lil Baby's words, "when you’re living like this they’re supposed to hate."
The opening night of Wallen's 2024 One Night At A Time world tour at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis was nothing short of a spectacle. Over 70,000 fans, spanning ages, races, and backgrounds, converged to immerse themselves in the anthems that have soundtracked their lives. From children dressed as mini Morgans to couples in matching homemade shirts, the sense of community was palpable, transcending the typical boundaries of a music event.
The supporting acts, Lauren Watkins, Nate Smith, and Bailey Zimmerman, may have been newcomers to the stadium scene, but their performances belied their experience. Despite the challenges of capturing the attention of a sprawling crowd, they held their own, proving their mettle on a stage that dwarfed them in size.
Then, amidst a whirlwind of lights, pyrotechnics, and boundless energy, Morgan Wallen took center stage. With a repertoire of twenty-five hit songs spanning four stages, he spared no effort in bridging the vast gap between performer and audience. While the production dazzled, it was Wallen's undeniable connection with his fans that truly stole the show. They sang along with fervor, matching his every move and amplifying the atmosphere with their enthusiasm.
Yet, even amidst the euphoria, there lingered a bittersweet reality: the constraint of time. With a catalog brimming with hits, Wallen faced the inevitable challenge of omitting beloved fan favorites from his setlist. But that’s showbiz, baby! You can’t have it all—even when you have it all.
Whether it’s tonight or another, Morgan Wallen’s One Night At A Time Tour exceeds expectations, delivering a performance that transcends mere entertainment to become a collective experience etched into the memories of all who are there to witness. As the lights dimmed and the echoes of applause faded into the night, one thing became abundantly clear: Morgan Wallen's reign shows no signs of waning, his empire of sound destined to endure.
A Brief Confession
Sometimes I take money in exchange for promotion. Nine times out of ten you can probably tell when this happening based on the type of content I create. I have never accepted money for something I did not enjoy, and I have never misled people into believing I am a fan of someone whose art I dislike.
Still, I find it funny how the social media music ecosystem has started recognizing when artists try too hard to go viral. Someone recently commented on a video I made and wrote, “this artist is really spending a lot to make people give a shit.” And you know what? They are not wrong.

Final Thoughts
I will be the first to say that trying to make content full-time as a thirty-something father when endless multitudes of competition exists is a crazy idea. But I will also tell you that my wife, my parents, and my closest friends believe in me, even when I don’t. Whatever you choose to do in this life—I hope you find a support system half as good as mine.
Thank you for reading and following this journey I am on. Until next time, remember: Garth Brooks could add his music to Spotify any day and he wakes each morning choosing to deny us that gift. But seriously—thank you.
